20th Annual Conference of Croatian Psychologists in Dubrovnik

On November 8, 2012, a round table discussion was organized by the Section of Psychology of Sexuality and Psychology of Gender“Position of the psychological profession in the area of ​​sexuality,” which was prepared by Ida Šamanović and Maja Mamula. The round table was attended by 30 psychologists.


On November 9, 2012, a round table discussion was organized by the Section of Clinical and Health Psychology and the Section of Psychology of Sexuality and Psychology of Gender “Different forms of partnerhips” that was led by Iva Žegura. Guests included the Ombudsperson for Gender Equality Višnja Ljubičić and Maja Mamula. At the roundtable, a documentary film about same-sex parenting “Homo Baby Boom” (Anna Boluda, 2008) was screened. 30 psychologists participated in the discussion.


On the same day, a round table “Inclusion and effects of therapeutic dogs on family users – children with developmental difficulties” took place, which was hosted by Maja Mamula. Guests included Mira Katalenić and Lucija Katalenić from the Croatian Guide Dog and Mobility Association. Ksanta, yellow Labrador guide dog was present at the round table and caused great attention. In spite of very high quality and brilliant lecture by Lucija, the round table was attended by only 12 psychologists, given a series of parallel events at this year’s conference. After the round table, numerous psychologists met with Mira and Lucija.


On November 10, 2012, a symposium of the Section of Psychology of Sexuality and Psychology of Gender was organized, entitled: Violence in the family – the other side of the coin, and led by Maja Mamula. Symposium included a series of presentations related to the less recognized victims of domestic violence, and the dilemmas that psychologists working with victims of violence encounter in their practice. Although the symposium took place on the last day of the conference, it was attended by more than 50 psychologists.
