CENTER FOR VICTIMS OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE

The Center for Victims of Sexual Violence operates within the Women's Room and is the only specialized service for survivors of any form of sexual violence in the Republic of Croatia. Within the Center, a multidisciplinary team of experts provides anonymous and free of charge assistance and support to survivors of sexual violence and their close ones.

Services provided within the Center:

• Psychological counseling (crisis and long-term)
• Psychotherapy aiming to work through traumatic experience
• Legal counseling including information on rights within criminal proceedings
• Information on available services in the health and social welfare system
• Support in reporting sexual violence
• Preparation for a court procedure
• Accompaniment of survivors to all relevant institutions during court procedure in the role of confidential person (accompaniment to the police, hospital, state prosecution office, court, social welfare centers)
• Preparation and submission of expert opinions, certificates and recommendations at the request of official bodies, with the consent of the survivor
• Support for parents whose children have survived sexual violence
• Informing and counseling persons who are close ones to survivors
• Drafting and printing different educational and informative materials for survivors of sexual violence

Direct work with survivors of sexual violence within the Center is based on a combination of three key approaches – understanding the gender perspective of sexual violence, a survivor-centered approach, and a trauma-informed approach.

We know that it can be very difficult to start a conversation about a lived experience, and that is why we are here to listen when you feel ready to talk. In a safe environment and atmosphere of trust, you can receive help and support regardless of your age, sexual orientation, religion or community you come from, as well as absolute confidentiality and protection of your anonymity.
