Round table “Introducing Prevention Programs against Sexual Violence into Schools”
On November 24, 2011, the Women’s Room – Center for Sexual Rights organized a round table “Introducing Prevention Programs against Sexual Violence into Schools” thereby marking theInternational Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Guests, who gave introductory presentations, included:Gordana Sobol (president of the Committee for Gender Equality of the Croatian Parliament); Vesna Jureša, Ph.D. (Faculty of Medicine, Zagreb, School of Public Health „Andrija Štampar“); Sanja Cesar(CESI- Center for Education, Counseling, and Research) and Emina Bužinkić (Initiative for Introducing Human Rights Education and Democratic Citizenship).
Apart from depressing statistics about victims of sexual violence, participants learned about experience in work with youth on prevention of sexual violence as well as research results related to these issues. The emphasis was placed on cooperation between all relevant stakeholders in order to efficiently work on prevention of sexual violence. We would like to thank all guest-presenters and participants.
